We believe light is a celebration of good architecture

Dra Skin Derma Institute was awarded Steel Pencil Winner in the Interior Design category, recognizing excellence in spatial concept, materiality, and architectural execution. In 2023, I participated as a lighting designer in the international workshop of Lights in Alingsås, one of the most recognized lighting design events worldwide. As part of a multidisciplinary and international team, I contributed to the conceptual development and on-site realization of a temporary public light installation in Alingsås, Sweden. The workshop combined narrative exploration, technical experimentation, and hands-on construction, positioning light as an emotional, spatial, and collective design tool. This experience deepened my research into the relationship between landscape, architecture, and nighttime perception within a highly collaborative and innovation-driven environment.

Our project Sagrado Corazón Montemayor Preschool, located in Envigado (Colombia), has been selected as a winner at the Latin American Architecture Biennial. In this project, light becomes an educational, emotional, and architectural tool. The lighting design was conceived to nurture, inspire feeling, and support learning from early childhood. Through the concept of luminous itineraries, light accompanies the different rhythms of the day and the activities within the school, creating environments that enhance concentration, reduce anxiety, and build spatial perception for young children.

Garden of the Soul is a yoga studio designed as a retreat immersed in nature, where light serves as an emotional and spatial guide. Natural light is the main feature, fostering a direct connection with the surroundings, while artificial lighting was designed to subtly complement it, generating warm and serene atmospheres that support focus and well-being during practice. From the entrance, users walk through a space where soft lighting and the sound of flowing water create a sensory experience that invites them to leave the noise of the city behind. This transitional zone gently prepares the body and mind for the session. Inside, light is organically integrated into the architecture, with wooden beams softly backlit to evoke natural daylight in tone, direction, and intensity. Lighting scenes are programmable and adaptive, designed to support each phase of the yoga practice—from activation to deep meditation. Color selections were based on psychological impact, enhancing a sense of balance, introspection, and harmony. Every lighting detail is intended to contribute to a mindful and transformative experience.

“Light is measured in lux, but felt in the heart.” Happy to be featured in Lamp Magazine for our school project Sagrado Corazon

This recognition reflects our commitment to using light not only as a functional element but as a design tool that enhances spatial experience and supports the identity of the space.
